It seems as if the install went OK, but I cannot get an internet connection. Here is what it shows:

Connection
- My SSID
- Speed 54.0 Mbps
- Duration 10 hours.....
- Signal Strenght Excellent

Activity
- Packets Sent = 384,000
- Packets Received = 0

Under Properties > Internet Protocol > Properties
- It shows Use the following IP Addresses and an IP of 192.168.0.1 and Subnet of 255.255.255.0, but there is nothing for the Default gateway. It also shows blank data for the DNS server addresses.

I compared this to my laptop that is running just fine on the network and I found that its wireless is configured for Obtaining an IP address and DNS servers automatically.

If I tell the IP Properties TCP/IP to select this info automatically, then then the connection says I have limited connectivity.

I went back to my setup for the ASUS Wlan and do not see anywhere for selecting automatic IP and DNS addresses.

I have also disabled WZC in services.msc

I have also removed and reinstalled the ASUS program from the ASUS website.

There are no issues in Device Manager.

I am really stumped and would greatly appreciate help and insights.

Jack,

Thanks, but none of things really are applying to me.

I have this particular wireless item set for automatically picking up DHCP, but apparently it is not.

I have a technical support ticket in with Asus and I hope they can sort this out. I have noticed on the internet that others with the same MB are having the same problem.

Most all problems of this nature are user configuration error. Heck, most all problems with wireless are configuration related.

You have all the tell tale signs of incorrect security settings or possibly windows zero config messing with your wireless utility.

1) remove all security/encryption, broadcast your ssid (as you should anyway)
2) make sure that windows is not configured to use the zero config, you'll see a selection in the network control panel that says "let windows manage wireless", make sure that isn't selected.

The ability to not receive an IP address via DHCP (that's your limited connectivity message and it sounds like windows is still trying to manage your wireless) is almost always one of these two factors - encryption or windows configuration.

I already have WZC disabled and the problem continues to exist.

If I eliminate encrytion then everyone will be on my network that lives around me.

It is the first step in troubleshooting. You HAVE to do this to elminate the extremely common security misconfiguration users make.

It's very, very, very easy to muck up encryption unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing. The prime indicator of a security mismatch is not getting an IP address and not receiving any packets - your symptoms.
