I'm using Clark Connect's web-based configuration tool and this is what it looks like:

I mean, what am I doing wrong? Every time I try to log onto gateway.clarkconnect.lan using SmartFTP I always get an invalid password error.

I use anonymous and leave the password blank. Nope.
I use anonymous and use my email addy as the password. Nope.
I use root as the username and my root password. Nope.

I'm really confused WHY FTP is being set up like this. Shouldn't I be specifying allowed usernames and passwords when I'm setting up the FTP? There was never a step that had me do such a thing...

In addition, what address do I use to access my FTP from some remote location? The screenshot says the server URL is gateway.clarkconnect.lan but if I'm in California trying to access this which is in Ohio I can't just use "gateway.clarkconnect.lan" as my FTP address in SmartFTP and expect to be magically connected to my FTP server... is the URL my IP address?

I'm not familiar with Clark Connect (configuring it, that is) but everything certainly looks ok.

No help here.

Sorry,

Joe

I figured it out.

I couldn't connect because there weren't any allowed usernames and passwords specified for the FTP, like I had mentioned in the OP. I finally figured out WHERE this was, and IMO it's location is logical, although something Windows users would be completely unfamiliar with. It was the equivalent of setting up an FTP server in Windows but then having to go to the User Accounts Control Panel in Windows to set up a special FTP user account. I've thought of User Account control panels as places just to specify whether a user is an Admin or a Guest.

Gee, I really wish the Clark Connect user documentation on how to set up FTP would have put this as one of the steps...
