cannot get Adobe Lightroom to work

i have no idea whats going on. OSX has worked flawlessly up until now

i tried the LR demo and kept getting "error when changing module" errors. i got these errors immediately after install. the library module was pretty much bare, i couldnt import anything, and clicking on the other modules resulted in more "error when changing modules" errors.

on top of that, the LR preference pane would not load either

now after the 5th attempt of reinstalling (after trying various cleaning and verifying and fixing permissions n such) the installer actually tells me that there is nothing to install and that i cannot continue.

happily i did get it installed on an external drive, but even then.... i still get the same "error when changing modules" bollocks.

getting a bit sick of this now, its supposed to be what, $200 software.... based on the trial, or lack of it. i wont be buying.

Does it say it is compatible with whatever version of OS X you are running?

Any chance the installer you downloaded might have been corrupted? Maybe re-downloading will change something.

Outside of folder permissions not allowing you to install these folders, that's the only thing I can think of unless it's a 100% Adobe issue.

all the downloads i could find kept going back to adobe

so i downloaded what is essentially the same thing but off of a bit-torrent (it was even a file that worked because users reported that it did)

this was an older version and it came packaged with the update to whatever the latest is. again.... wouldnt install.

said there was nothing to install again

i dont get it.
