Cannot full format Velociraptor 600GB (Formatting progress bar freeze on 3/4)

I try to format (full) new Velociraptor 600GB.
(SATA-3 controller Marvel)

Formatting was very slow (12 hours to 3/4 and ... freeze on 3/4)
Then I had to abort formatting after no moving and keeping 3/4 for 8 hours...

SMART is ideal!

Do you have any idea? How to format 600GB Velociraptor?

Have you tried writing zeros to the entire drive?

Yes, I have tried WD lifeguard diagnostic tool to clean entire HDD

What about connecting it to ICH via AHCI and trying again?

I have 2 SATA-3 and 4 (dangerous because of P67 !!!) SATA-2 on my P8P67.
Both 2 SATA-3 are in use - that's why I connect Velociraptor to Marvel.

I cannot connect Velociraptor to 2 busy Intel SATA-3 and don't want connect to 4 dangerous Sata-2.

You may want to try for the sake of troubleshooting. It's a minor inconvenience, I know but sometimes you have to try things in an order that's not optimal to see where your problem(s) lie. 😉

In the past when I have had drives hang on formatting it was because they were defective. I would just exchange it and try another one or maybe try formatting it in another system?
