I booted into win95 with a dos floppy and then typed: Format c:

When I do that it gives me the error in the message. How do I make it... um, not a network drive? Do I delete the shared folders? Or do I just unplug my network cable?

Running win xp home.

Thanks for your help!

you can't format it with a win95 boot disk because more than likely the drive is using NTFS. Depending on which Win95 version you used, it only sees fat16 and fat32 partitions. You'll need to use FDISK to delete the "Non-DOS" partition. Why are you using a win95 boot disk anyways?

It is a fat 32 formatted hard drive. What should I use to reformat insted of the win95 disc?

use a win95B (or C possibly) disk, or use a windows 98 boot disk.
