Cannot find RAM divider...

I am using a Intel North 2.6Ghz and will be trying to OC my FSB to 250 Ghz.

I am using DDR400 which is 200 Ghz and hence I need to set 5:4 RAM divider. However, I have looked through my Bios several times and cannot find the input to set the 5:4 ratio.

Anyone has experience with Asus mobo and particularly P4P800 and can tell me where to enable RAM divider 5:4?

I have my divider set to 5:4

The seting is in the Jumperfree menu area and is called DRAM reference freq. ASUS does this setting different than other MB companies. Set the DRAM Freqency acording to your processor type. On my setup (Celeron D) the 333 MHZ = 5:4 ratio, the 266 MHZ = 1:1.

I would confirm this for your setup.

Hi SeanM

When I went into my DRAM frequency, I can only choose 266Mhz, 320 Mhz and 400 Mhz or Auto.

So I should be setting 400 Mhz to tell my mobo that this is DDR400 ram? Does this mean the mobo will release it should run at 5:4?

OR...should I set to 320 Mhz for the DRAM frequency?

Above the DRAM frequency is the CPU external frequency (Mhz) which I can set to 250 Mhz.

I though you might have different choices than me...

My best advice to you is to do what I did to figure out what the actual RAM diverder is. Download CPU Z (just google it). This will give you the exact settings. On the memory tab of CPU Z you will see the RAM divider. Now change your DRAM reference freq to the lowest (in your BIOS). Boot up and observe the change. I am honestly not sure what the correct one will be for you but I know that this is how you change your DRAM to FSB ratio.

Use CPU Z, I learned much about my system using this tool.

On my P4C800, the divider was the DDR 266, 333, 400 setting. DDR400 is 1:1 FSB:RAM, DDR 333 is 6:5 and DDR 266 is 3:2. I guess 320 would be the 5:4 ratio you want.

Hi DerKaiser,

Thanks for your input. Got that answer from another OC forum.

I finally tried 250 FSB and 5:4 RAM Divider but WinXP won't boot up.

I used CPU Z and found that at AI OC 20%, this is what the Asus mobo is setting:

Core speed: 3120 Mhz
FSB 240 Mhz
Bus speed 960 Mhz
Ram frequency: 192 Mhz at 5:4
CAS 2.5

Interesting...earlier I read the CPU Z and it reported 3:2 instead...

I think I am happy enough with this setting not to waste anymore time to push the performance of my PC or my luck ^^
