Cannot figure out this simple problem for the life of me

In 10 years, this is honestly the most frustrating thing i have ever come across.....

New vista machine, partitioned my drive and attempted a simple redirect of the Documents folder (properties/location/move). Done it a million times before with no hassle.

Somehow, someway, it copied itself within itself in a way i have never seen. All i want is the

start menu > documents button to take me to the new documents
start menu > music button to take me to the new music folder.

Instead, i get 2 buttons labeled "Music", and both go to the same Music folder. I try to change the location of the "Music" folder that is supposed to be "Documents" and both then redirect to Documents. Try to change it back, they both go to music. I have no fucking clue what is going on and am ready to go back to XP at this point.

Any help before i get an ulcer?

Totally weird, man. I always change the default locations for my personal folders since I use a second storage drive for that stuff and have never seen this issue before.

I'll play around with my folders and see if I can somehow replicate your situation. But normally, it should just "work," you know?

There aren't mp3s in the folder you're assigning to be 'documents,' are there?

yeah i have no idea what happend. All i can imagine is that its duplicated itself so there are either 2x Document folders or 2x Music. Not one of each.

Anyone know the reg string where i can change them manually?

IIRC, i just setup Vista again last night and this is what i think.
What happened is that when you first did the redirect, you didn't click on the Yes move all files. The warning on that popup said that if you click No and have existing files in that folder, you will have a duplicate shortcut.
