Cannot Established Connection between 2 comp in Mechwarrior 4

I hope i'm in the correct forum.

I have to computer connecting to each other through network cards by a RJ45 connector.
We could successfully play Counterstrike under LAN game and very nice PING.

But why couldn't we connect in the game Mechwarrior4?
I hope some people who play this games in multiplayer help. Thanx

i haven't play mechwarrior, but there are some games out there that connects thru ipx.. maybe mechwarrior is one of them and maybe you might wanna install it as a protocol
