Hi, all and thanks for your help in advance.
Having problem with opening a web site.
Have Windows XP with SP2.
I have three computers and only having a problem with one.
The web site is www.hsn.com
Works ok on other 2 computers.
I've also installed Firefox and cannot get it to open that web site either.
Very strange, and thanks for your time.

Is this a home machine or work?

If work then did you do the install?

Either way did you know if any software for site blocking was installed?

I would assume that other sites are working fine?

What is it does it do when you try that page?

On Sat. after fresh install everything was working ok, all web sites I could go to.
On Mon. morning HSN was the only web site I coujld not get in, it says page cannot be displayed. All other web sites I can still get too. I installed Firefox and the same thing is happening, just won't go into hsn but all others fine.

That is very strange.

Just off the top of my head this is what I woudl check...
spyware
virus
make sure hosts file does not have an entry for hsn.com or their ip
maybe log on as a different user on that machine and try it

I assume that you have tried since then with the same results?

Done the spyware and virus thing, check with Avg all up to date no problems. Used Adaware and spybot search and destroy all updated. Haven't done the host, forgot how to check and edit host file.

It's actually my brothers systems, he and his wife driving me nuts she shops on hsn and doesn't want to use the kids computer. Not sure what to do other then reformat again, how do I get to host file so I can look in there?

It's crazy never seen this before where only one web site can't get into.

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\HOSTS

Also you can check this in IE (but it shouldn't affect firefox)
-tools
-internet options
-security
-restricted site

Also don't know if you have any toolbar ad ons for IE that might have site blocking tools built in.

If none of that then maybe someone else can help.
Are these all on the internet connection?
