Cannot disable hardware acceleration

So I recently got back home after having been away for a year and began to remember the problems I was having with my system before I left. One such problem concerns a Logitech PnP mouse I've been using for the last year or so. Sometimes when I'm holding down the button to drag something (like a window) it automatically releases. Sometimes when I click nothing happens. Other times when I click it auto double-clicks.

The mouse settings are at default. What I've read says that hardware acceleration could be the culprit. I've tried to change the advanced settings of the display options but the "change settings" button is grayed out. What gives?

I'm running a GTX470 and I'm on Windows 7, if that helps.

Have you tried to swap out the mouse? It sounds to me like a switch in the mouse might be dying (not unusual - I go through one myself every 12 to 18 months).

Yep, seems like that was the problem. It's strange, considering I used this same mouse for the last year with a laptop and had no problems with it.
