Cannot delete this folder on my desktop!!

I opened up my start menu and was arranging some icons in my programs, by accident i accidentally dragged this folder "Startup" onto my desktop. So now I have 2 Startup folders, one on my desktop and one of my programs menu, even though I have nothing in them. Now my question is, how can I remove the one on my desktop?

Because when i try to delete it, it tells me Startup is a folder windows needs to use to run etc etc. Even though I have 2 copies of it, one on my desktop and my start menu

I am a very fussy user and though the one on my start menu is fine with me, I hate having this folder named startup on my desktop because everytime I look at it, its like an eyesore

anyone know how to remove it the one on my desktop?

Solved it, I'm such a dumbass, clicked on properties and changed it to hidden

Had the same prob but changing the properties did nothing to enable me to delete it
Then it occured to me that nero was still open ( i burn alot ) closed nero then i was able to delete the folder
