cannot create directshow player?

I always get this message when I tried to play videos on web sites. This also happens when I tried to play something on Windows media player. I have downloaded Windows media player 9 and 10 several different times and still does not work. So if somebody could help, I would appreciate it.

Try to find a copy of mplayer2.exe on your system.
Should be here: C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\mplayer2.exe

open it>view>options>formats>select all>ok

try it again...

still no dice. When I try to open my latest Windows media player it says: "an internal application error has occurred". I have downloaded Windows media player 9 and 10with no luck.

I don't know... and neither does google...
If you like you can try using these registry settings I pulled from my working registry. Paste the text below into notepad and save as whatever.reg then double click to merge the settings. Looks like you may have to reinstall windows or try finding a media player specific forum. Good luck.

Filename doesn't matter as long as ends with .reg

I'd call it "please work so I don't have to reinstall windows.reg".
