Cannot copy XXX.XXX the resulting filename is too long

Ii'm trying to copy/cut & paste my mp3s from one drive to another and i keep getting the response that i can't copy because the resulting filename is too long. Thing is the longest filenames are <50 chars long and i'm getting this on multiple files.

Wtheck is going on here?

This isn't really a solution for that error, but have you tried using Robocopy instead?

Most likely the destination path PLUS the file name is too long. There is a limit to the total number of characters that can be in the full name of the file (full name of the file is the full path plus the file name).

Yeah, I think it's 255 total characters in the path.

His volume name is some 200 characters?

Is this an NTFS drive?
