Cannot copy X: The parameter is incorrect.

I have a CD that was used to back up some important data when my friend's Windows installation was corrupted. It took almost an entire day for the ailing computer to burn the CD, so maybe the burn was corrupted. The computer got a new hard drive and a fresh install of Windows XP and can now open many of the files, but if I try to copy them to the hard drive, I get an error saying "Cannot copy (filename): The parameter is incorrect." The files have valid filenames (no invalid characters, spaces, etc...), which is what most people seem to think causes this error. I also have EasyRecovery Professional, but it won't find the CD for some reason, only my hard disks. Does anyone have any suggestions on ways to salvage the data?

My wifes computer got this message when her CD-ROM was dying, so it is quite possible the CD is corrupt. Try the CD in another computer. If it works there, uninstall the CD-ROM on that computer and have windows re-detect it.
