Cannot copy files to networked library location.

I have a small server, which i can access from my main comp. Drive "W:\" is on the server and is part of my windows 7 library on my main comp, and i copy stuff to it when accessing it through the library. I can write to sub folders say "W:\stuff\things" but i cannot write to "W:\" on its own through the windows 7 library.

Strange thing is i can write to "W:\" when i access it through the network location in "my computer" (the map network drive thing) this is still from my main comp. Is this just some bug with library's? I have full permissions setup with the admin account used to access the server.

Both comps are on windows 7, there's 4 hard drives involved, none can be written to through the library but are fine when i try to copy to them from the network location, i just used drive "W:\""as an example. Didnt have this problem when the server used 2008 R2. I dont even get an error or anything its just the option to "paste" is greyed out.

remember there are SHARING permissions and Directory security permissions. you need to make sure the effective permissions of both let you write. When you don't have active directory permissions get really sketchy imo
