Cannot copy file

I am trying to copy a folder from a network drive to a local drive. I get the error "Cannot copy file". I tried copying a few other folders and they worked fine, so it is something wrong with this one. Googling seemed to show that possibly a file is open from some other computer? Is there a way to check if this is the case? Or continue copying, skipping those files that are open?

Thanks,

Dave

Try restarting the system you are trying it copy from? This should hopefully resolve the issue of it possibly being opened or used by someone else?

I used TotalCommander - it gave the option of skipping the files that had an "error" instead of just quitting like windows did. I think it's totally obnoxious it just says "Cannot copy file" instead of at least indicating WHICH file, let alone WHAT is wrong with it.

I bet restarting the system would have worked too, but it was on a server that is hard to restart without causing a big commotion.

Does anyone else have a better way to take care of something like this?
