I was having some problems with my laptop today dealing with start-up....it didn't. I couldn't even boot it to safe-mode. So i backed up my important things outta the Repair consle using the Cd and then i went to do a re-install. The thing is, is that i cant reinstall XP because during text setup i cannot copy any files to the windows instalation folders. Anyone have any ideas. I thought Ram failure then maybe HDD.????

Are you saying that it cannot copy the install files from the CD to the Hard Disk? During the initial blue screen part of the installation?

Did you wipe the partition or are you trying to repair the already installed OS? If you have the important files backed up I would suggest a clean wipe and install.
