I have a server running Windows Server 2003 that has Exchange and also a shared data folder. The work computer has Windows XP and Outlook 2007. All of a sudden, when opening Outlook it ask for username and password to login to exchange, and when they are entered it just brings up the popup again. Also, when trying to open the shared folder it does the same thing, repeatedly asks for login info. The strange thing is the user info works to login to the domain. I've logged in as a different user on that computer and it worked, and I've tried logging in that user on a different computer and it doesn't, so I assume it is something wrong with the user account. I tried changing the password and it still happens. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Have you tried entering the User Name in the format: DomainName\UserName ? Or UserName@DomainName ?

No I have not. Why is it asking in the first place? The properties of that shared folder gives the user full permissions. It's never asked before for that user or any other.

Try rebooting and logging back in, just to confirm that the password has not expired. Also this is a dumb question but is that user part of that domain?

Check to see if his account is locked/disabled/expired. Is your DC running properly?

It is fixed, but I don't know what of the many things I tried worked. Thanks for the help.

I've seen this happen a couple of times. I usually assume it's related to Windows saved ussernames/passwords that have gotten out-of-sync with the actual passwords.
