Hi All,
I posted a while back with a problem getting my new self-built rig to the POST stage.
That now works - the board was shorting out due to not being on the chassis properly.
Now it kicks in fine and picks up the Maxtor 160GB IDE drive and CDRW IDE. I also have a Serial ATA drive connected but I've disabled the ATA RAID bit in the BIOS as well as the Promise controller.
Whenever I try to install WinXP (or Win2000) from CD, it gets about 10-15 minutes in then reports an error, different each time, ranging from:
"file isapnp.sys caused an unexpected error"
to
"file vga.dll is corrupt" and "error code is ..." etc etc.
I've updated the BIOS to V1009 (latest from ASUS site using correct reflash method).
I've used MemTest86 to test the RAM - all OK.
I've hit the wall again.
Shall I disconnect the Serial ATA drive from the MOBO? Would that make a difference? What do people think?
Thanks in advance guys.
