Cannot access files on my phone anymore

SSG S5 v6.1

Been searching around and I see almost everyone recommending to update the drivers, but I'm not entirely sure what they are talking about. I had no issues putting music on my phone and removing pictures to my PC in the past, but since the latest update 6.1, nothing shows up anymore. My PC will detect the phone, but when I explore it, it's empty. I tried to retrieve pictures and media, but it says my phone is empty.

Any ideas?

What type of Phone and what program are you using to try and access it ? For example, I have a Motorola Razor V3M and use Motorola Phone Tools, but in versions past V5 that phone model is not supported anymore (even though lots of folks still have it -- so I use V 4.x )

My S7 pops up a message each time I plug it into a PC, asking if I want to allow access from the computer I attached it to. Could be a similar thing with your model, just doesn't have the popup for some reason.

Edit: After looking around some, I saw a few posts about MTP and PTP. Didn't know what these were, so I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers. When they were reinstalled, it showed my phone as MTP Media Device, so I googled how to change MTP to PTP and it turns out you just have to swipe down on the notification bar and select the USB Charging option, then change it to something else.

The new update no longer lumps everything into a single USB connection. Now you have to manually choose what you want to be able to do with your phone.

I feel a bit stupid for not seeing that before.

Thanks again for all the suggestions. Without them I wouldn't have figured this out.
