Question Cannon MX860 printer no longer shows up in the Printer & Scanner Settings

I don't know if this was caused by the recently update (windows 10 build 1903) or not, but I notice that the printer Cannon MX860 do not show up in the Printer & Scanner Settings or the device manager settings panel. What's weird is that it prints fine and if I use device manager, I can see the printer, but they don't show up in the settings. It's even the default printer. Printer is connected via USB.

I have reinstalled the driver 3 or 4 times. I have also check that Device install services and device service enrollment is setup properly. The only thing I can think of is that the printer is so old that it uses Windows 7 drivers, so perhaps there's some incompatibility there.

Remove Device under Devices --Printers & scanners (start menu / settings / devices / printers & scanners / select Canon MX 860 series printer REMOVE DEVICE Then restart computer.

Go to Settings/Devices/ Printers & Scanners...click "ADD printer".
"help me find an older version" but a second later it should pop up with MX 860 Series. Add printer. Look in Device manager for printer.

Sometimes it also helps when you do this if you move the printer USB cable to a different USB port.

I just installed Windows 10 (on some new hardware) and the Canon utility gave me some fits, too. It can work, sometimes, just by switching USB ports... but it's a quick fix only, you have to fully solve the printer & scanner issue to get a permanent fix. I finally got mine established by uninstalling the Canon drivers, and then reinstalling them... THEN plugging the printer in, discovering it, and going on my merry way. Dumb thing is, though, Windows kept track of all the times I added it... so when I open the toolbox to print, I actually have to select the 'copy2'... or 3rd version... of my printer to allow it to print.
