I would like to make some french toast and I'm out of fresh milk, but I've found a can of evaporated milk. It says "best if used by: Jun 22 2009," and I'm wondering if it is still good to use? Other than a few dents in the can from mishandling it seems to be in good shape.

"Best if" means just that. It may still be good past that date, just not guaranteed to be best.

Okay, thanks.

Any thoughts on "expired" blueberry muffin mix? I've been ransacking my apartment lol. I guess I should go to the store tomorrow.

I tend to think that the best by dates on canned stuff are for worst case scenarios.. storing the cans in 120 degree heat... or something..

IIRC the "expiration date" on canned goods means the nutritional values may no longer be accurate, but it should still be good. I have no idea where I heard that, though. I'm guessing it's fine. If the can is bulging out or if it smells funny, then don't eat it. :p

No with evaporated milk that is actually a poison date. If it you consume it after that date it could contain toxins and poisons.
