Canned Beer!

I've found some pretty good buys lately on some canned beers, of various brands, but the one thing I have found, is that the majority of the can's tops smell like soldering flux.
It's really pretty nasty! 🙁
I usually drink bottled beer, but have been able to find some, otherwise good brands for as low as $4.99 per 12 pack. But with that smell all the time, as well, as a bitterness, on these cans, I am compelled to go back to bottles, even if I have to pay more.

Idea! Run a lemon or lime around the top of the can. Citric Acid kills funk.

Have you tried this personally, or are you just talking out your @ss?

I like canned beer. In my opinion, cheap beer tastes better out of cans, premiums are better out of bottles. And of course all beers taste better from the tap.

Not this time (I think). If you handle something funky, like tuna, garlic, etc... you use either lemon or lime juice to kill the odor on your hands. It should work the same I guess. Never tried it.

You are correct, all beers taste better from the tap, especially, when at the right temp.

One beer I've never seen on tap, is Grolsch Lager. 🙁

That only works because the odor compounds are basic, which are neutralized by acids.

Grolsch......thats some skunky tasting beer....

Some canned Beers as in "what brands"?

I remember in FL when the only place I could buy beer on Sunday was at this little indian store. I had to wash the beer cans before drinking because it was so nasty smelling. Curry? If anyone has ever been to an indian motel/hotel, you know the smell I'm talking about. Smelling this as you're drinking a beer is not pleasant.

Case beer only for me......I will never again buy a case where the little convienient store cuts it in half (12x2) and sells it. NEVER EVER NEVER EVER!

Me no likey bottles. Bottles are for women that like foam in every swallow.

Tapped beer needs a clean glass and a clean tap line. Most places do not do a good job at cleaning or replacing tap lines! If you've ever gotten a beer on tap/draft and noticed that the bottom or inside of your mug is bubbling wildly...... It's not a clean mug. If you've ever gotten a beer you've had for years and all of a sudden it tastes different...... Bad lines!
All the small time restaurants are bad at cleaning both.

No, bottles are for people who don't like their beer to taste like aluminum.

Glass bottle > plastic bottle >> aluminum can.

Plastic ANYTHING is at the bottom of the list and the only time I'll drink out of a bottle if a can is not available.
Aluminum has no flavor unless you chew the can or have a mouth full of fillings.

Ok, I've been on a budget. 😉

Been buying cases of Miller at our local ghetto store for $8.99 per case. The half cases of natural and natural ice, are $4.99

Another store sells Coors, Coors Light, Bud and Bud Light, for $2.50 for 2 -24 oz cans. All of those taste and smell like you are ingesting soldering flux.

Sounds like he has tried it on his @ss.:disgust:

It's the metal more than anything...some sodas are like that.

I was in a Publix getting groceries and the guy ahead was buying a case of canned beer...the checkout lady told him bottles were on sale.

His reply was something along the lines of "Nothing sounds better than a pop top"

On the boat, bottles are pretty much something you don't want. Some of the newer plastic bottles are great and at SeaWorld they had aluminum 'bottles'...they were not can like at all.

The metalic taste is from the beer being IONIZED by the aluminum. That is why old tv dinners and some canned foods (OJ) that same taste too.

Aw, so it's not because someone compuwizzed on the cans.😛

Well it's possible it's a combination of events perhaps. 😉
