Haven't used the X3 so I can't speak for it although i will say I'm a bit doubtful as to how much power it can put out with such a small unit. I do have the ED-500 myself though, that will absolutely clear any dust out of pretty much any crevice.

Do you know what is the difference between ed-500 and ed-500esd? Is it just the wrist strap?

The only thing I'm sure of is the X3 Canless Air is portable, no cord, blows around 260 MPH Lasts about 15-20 min on a charge. I use to clean dust out of computers, off keyboards and on all electronics, works great as the cord on the other unit is to restrictive! Oh, I use it a lot to clean the dust and crumbs from the inside of my car. Not as powerful as the other unit but has all the power I need to clean dust away, don't let your wife see it, mine always takes it to clean in the house!!!

I also have an ED-500 and it is more than plenty strong enough to blow dust away. It does get warm though if you use it for very long. That shouldn't be a problem unless you're cleaning multiple computers one after another.

The ESD version looks to add an anti-static wrist strap and "Static-Dissipating Attachments".

That ED-500 is a monster. It turns your wrist when you hit the power button ! I actually have to hold the fan down so it doesn't overspin and damage the bearings. Going on 5+ years with mine and it has paid for itself as opposed to the $8 compressed air by the can method.

Do you think the ED-500-esd is a useful upgrade from ED-500 worth the extra bucks.

Not familiar with the ESD model at all. I just know that the price has went up since I bought mine, so if the higher price is an issue, save some $ and buy the cheaper ED-500 model.
For a wrist strap and a few more attachments, its hardly worth it. I only use one attachment to dust out my PC.

I just grabbed the ED-500 ($58). It definitely moves some air - also keeps my cat in check, just turning it on sends her running :) . The micro attachments (MVC-211E) are ESD safe, see https://www.metrovacworld.com/MCT-4 . The cord is about 12 foot long, plenty for me.

I was turned off the X3 for a few reasons; 15-20 minutes per charge seemed a little low. Coupled with the 500 charge Life of product was a negative. I was also leery about the 260MPH claim. Just about every other product I've looked at measures in CFM - don't know what kind (if any) of a conversion I have to do to convert MPH to CFM or vice versa.
