What the hell can I do to make it go away?

Edit: This is the second one in 2 weeks. Came as the first went away.

i NEVER used to get them, and then I got this new gel toothpaste and got like 4 in a row, so I switched back to paste toothpaste (not gel) and I haven't got any more since.

This is an actual doctor's advice, and it works very well:

Mix 1/2 peroxide and 1/2 water, swish for 30-60 seconds (longer the better). It's going to foam up and taste like ass, but keep it in there.

Next, use Listerine (no substitutions- real Listerine) for at least 30 seconds.

Brush your teeth at least three times a day.

Do the risining three times a day.

It'll be gone in no time :) They get worse the more bacteria grows on it, so the plan here is to keep it as clean as possible.

some people are sensitive to the sodium lauryl sulfate that is in certain toothpastes and that can cause them to get recurrent. aphthous ulcers.

Yogurt works well actually. It burns like a sob when it goes on, but hold it till the burning stops and it actually has a numbing effect.

So, in the mean time, what can I do for the pain?
Ibuprofin?
Asprin?
Benzacaine?
?????

Yup, thats benzacaine. I have some of that and it really helps. Gets all nice and numb for 10min (then slowly comes back, in about 30min. its back in full stride). Lets me eat what I want so I really don't care that it lasts that long.

Mine is a gel in a tube though. Same active ingredient though.

Yep, works well right before you eat, lets you actually enjoy your food. Especially if you're having ketchup with something, or something with salt on it.

Salt water is no where near as effective as you have to expose bacteria to salt for several minutes before it kills any significant amount.
