'Canespotting - The Newest Sport

it's about as devistating as is it more fun than watching golf or nascar.

anyways, anyone else see this as a new edge-of-your-seat kind of phenomenon? everyone gets glued and no one really knows what will happen next.... just like in most pro sports.

the irony is that even though it takes way longer to watch the path and developments of hurricanes, it's STILL more fun to watch than even 5 minutes of nascar or golf...

sucks when it causes all the damage, though.

The problem is the lack of branding. Who are you going to root for? The 2003 hurricane season? Hurricane #6 of any given year? Is Hurricane Florence going to be a winner this year? No consistency, no dynasties...it's a hard sport to really get into.

the one thing that has pissed me off for a few years is this:

there is no website that tracks a hurricane from like africa. they only show the last 2-3 days...they never show a week or two or it just rolling along in the atlantic.

noaa watches the tropical waves and depressions coming off cape verde, if that's where they start. ernesto started in the carribbean.

Born in raised in South FL so I know all to well about "'cane" spotting.

This is my first year living in GA (north ATL) so I don't have to worry so much, but still keep an eye on it since I have so many friends and family down there.

I thought this was a thread about sitting on a bench in a park, and watching old men walking around with canes.

OH THE TRICKERY!

I'm personally rooting for Hurricane Ernest this year. I think he's got what it takes to win the Heismann.

I know that but there is no website where we can see a fixed map where we can watch the hurricane manifest from a tropical wave.
