this guy is nuts. as a product of catholic school for over 12 years and anti-abortion propaganda i've never once heard amniocentesis even being considered controversial.
what type of insane people is this guy pandering to?
I can understand the logic of it. It's actually not a bad approach from his perspective.
Let's say you consider abortion murder. We can have an argument about that postulate all day, but let's say for the moment that the Catholic position is correct. You thus see that people in this country are murdering babies at a rate 60 times higher than all other homicides combined, and it's perfectly legal. You can't seem to convince the rest of the country to outright ban this horrible practice, however.
So, instead, you attack the causes. You see that
1/8 of all women having an abortion cite concerns over fetal health (still 8 times the homicide rate) as one of the reasons. The only way to know that a fetus will have a birth defect is by some form of pre-natal testing. Thus, if you can ban pre-natal testing, you can ensure that the fetus won't be aborted, thus saving thousands of murders.
Note that I don't agree with the original premise, but if you take it as a given, the rest makes a lot of sense.
