Enough measles vaccine for 10 million people? She's going to go autistic for sure! :p

That's amazing news - I see there were two clinical patients so far, and this was a last ditch effort after every other option had been attempted. One success, one partial success with the cancer returning in 9 months. But, nine extra months of life - with fewer side effects compared to other treatments - that's pretty promising.

I saw this on the news today. What a wonderful thing if it pans out and even if it only works temporarily.

Israel has proven Marijuana and THC kills cancer cells since at least 2011 and they are revealing more and more all the time.

If you have cancer smoke weed. Win win.

Or eat some THC. either way.

Yes, THC has shown cell death for certain types of metastices. And even if more and more research show no real benefit, I'm angry enough that this is research that should have and would have been done decades ago.

You and me both. Hell just in my generation we've had four in my family including me who've been diagnosed with various tumors; we're all alive but it would have been nice had even one of us benefited from THC therapy and not gone through chemo or radiation.

Why would the virus target cancerous cells and how would it distinguish them from non-cancerous cells?

There are a lot of other cancers out there people are suffering from
I wonder why they limited it to these in the article?
Up next: ovarian, brain, head, and neck cancers, as well as mesothelioma.

One of the hallmarks of many cancers is a loss of control of the cell cycle (ie the cell that isn't supposed to make new DNA does anyway). Many viruses circumvent these same controls as part of their reproductive strategy - they 'want' the cell to crank up nucleic acid synthesis and lots of other stuff.

A cancerous cell is thus sort of predisposed to allow a productive viral infection. As the virus spreads and grows, the immune system recognizes the infected cells and starts killing them. Probably some other things going on too.

Ipilimumab and similar drugs look really promising from what I've seen. Might be useless against brain tumors, but work great (relatively) against a few others.
