The revelation comes just days after work published in the journal Science by South Korean cloning expert Hwang Woo-suk was revealed as fabricated.


Hospital spokeswoman, Trine Lind said: "We are shocked. This is the worst thing that could happen in a research institution like ours."

Stein Vaaler, director of external relations at the hospital, added: "He published an article in The Lancet in October last year whose data is totally false, actually totally fabricated.

"His database had been completely fabricated on his computer."

Norwegian daily newsaper Dagbladet reported that of the 908 people in Sudbo's study, 250 shared the same birthday.

..dang right it is. I've shuttled family and friends back and forth to kemo treatments all the while wondering if it was really doing any good..only to see them die of the treatments rather then the cancer. :|

I totally disagree. This is a tragedy for the Lancet, the New England Journal of Medicine, Radium Hospital and cancer patients everywhere. For Dr. Sudbo, this is a disgrace.

His hospital is debating whether or not to let him treat patients. Why isn't his ass out on the street?

Unlike newspapers (which print corrections in the corner of an inside page) or politicians (that never correct their lies) . . . bad information in the sciences strikes at the heart of the very nature of the discipline.

Dr.Sudbo is an MD which means if he had "mistreated" his patients then he should lose his license. It sounds like he just made up data, which means the jury is still out on him as a physician. Clearly, he sux as a scientist.
