What is the average salary for CEGEP Graduates? I'm taking a 3-year Computer Science technical course at a CEGEP here in Montreal and I'm just wondering what the average salary is for graduates? What about graduates of universities such as McGill. Would it be worth it for me to go to uni after graduating CEGEP which is 2yrs away, or perhaps I should just enter the workforce and get experience?

Hmm I just answered my own question I think.

Salary figures are in CDN:

Computer Science, community college 2yrs (not exactly what a CEGEP is but close I guess, and ours is 3yrs):

Top 20%: 51,300
Average: 35,600
Bottom 20%: 21,600
Overall: 31,900

Trade school, which I definately am not in, is lower (but not by much), so I'll post the results for Undergraduate (3-4 years) and Masters (2 years). Wtf is the difference? Maybe what I'm doing is really undergraduate. "Quebec students must have a Diploma of Collegial Studies."... or not. I'm confused..
Anyway:

Undergraduate:

Top 20%: 65,600
Average: 46,100
Bottom 20%: 31,300
Overall: 40,200

Masters:
" An honours undergraduate degree in computer science or the equivalent. ". So I guess that means you go to uni, get really good marks then take ANOTHER 1 or 2 years to get a masters? Man, that'd be another 6 - 8 years in school. Dunno if that would pay in the long run as I'm already 19 and I'd be entering the workforce at 25-27 as opposed to 21 out of CEGEP. But...

Top 20%: 75, 300
Average: 54, 500
Bottom 20%: 38, 900
Overall: 53,300

So, $31900 a year graduating CEGEP, $40200 from UNI, and $53300 if I get a master's degree. That's $CDN.. hmm.. that seems awfully low doesn't it? In $US that's $20273, $25547, and $33872. Seems pretty low as my dad makes around $50K $CDN/$30K $US and he never went to college or anything, he works in a recycling plant.

Hmm.. so I'm not sure how it works with the CEGEPS and all, anyone from Quebec or at least Canada who knows more about this?

# of people in profession: 688,000
% male: 95
% female: 5
average hours per week: 40
average starting salary: $ 45,300
average salary after 5 years: $ 70,000
average salary after 10 to 15 years: $ 90,000

I just may be looking at a move to the US. Maybe $90,000 isn't a lot for you guys as I saw in This thread, but it'd sure beat the $20 - $40K I'd be making over here.

u have to remember, right now there are more CS grads than jobs since everybody jumped on the bandwagon earlier... Naturally salaries will come down a little...

and Canada will always have lower salaries than the States...
