I love the CBC comments section.

Ha, I was just talking with a friend about this earlier this morning. The people on there have to be all unemployed NDPers who just whine about business, taxes, the US, and how much their lives suck because of all the people out there who have jobs.

Meh, I've been asked if I was American all over the world and never once have I been offended. What the hell do I care?

KT

Edit: hmm, looks like a Brit-Canadian war in the comments. :D

Eh, I have a job and most of those things still piss me off. Not an NDPer though.

I wouldn't say I'm offended at being mistaken for an American (actually I don't think I ever have been), but I just laugh and point out that I'm Canadian.

I don't understand the "don't hug an Indian" advice in the article.

What exactly about Indians would incline someone to do that? I certainly know that whenever I go past a reserve I don't get a hankering to go hug some people.

I think it's imbecillic to be either proud to be from a country or ashamed to be from a country. Live your own fucking life and don't worry about it. God I can't stand it when my libral parents and siblings apologize for being American, it's just retarded.

Is it really such an insult? Look similar and speak similar, except for the 'eh' part

As people you're right, we're very similar. However, politically, we're worlds apart, and that's why we don't like being thought of as Americans.

I guess I should have said "most" :D

I find it offending that residents of our 51st state feel offended by being called "Americans."

Uhh, Canadians are American. So are Mexicans.

Why? It's North AMERICA and they are apart of this continent the last time I checked. Now they are not United States Americans though. That's different.
