Hi all,

I just wanted to alert you to a change in the exchange rates. I would also like to add that international users are now granted signup bonuses.

Hi all,

Just wanted to alert you to a change for our Canadian exchange rate---

Dear PayPal Member,

We're pleased to announce that we can now offer our Canadian members an improved Foreign Exchange rate! We are working continuously with our banking partners to provide you with an exchange rate that compares favorably to other leading payment services.

PayPal's Exchange Rate Beats the Competition
c2it? Billpoint? Western Union? PayPal
1.46 1.54 1.50 1.55

For more information on our foreign exchange rate, please login to your account and click the "Withdraw" subtab.

PayPal strives to offer you the safest, fastest, most cost-efficient way to send and receive money online. Providing a lower exchange rate is our way of saying thanks for using PayPal and helping us remain the world's largest online payment service.
Sincerely,

The PayPal Team

Hi,

Are you asking if you can transfer money in? If so, this is not available yet---the international team is looking at this option.

I'm assuming there's a different rate for 'buying' and 'selling' US currency?

Because if there's not, PayPal is actually WORSE than c2it, Billpoint, and Western Union. If I owe somebody $10 US, that will be $15.50 Canadian, in comparison to $14.60 (c2it).

So how does this help Canadians if we use PayPal to buy things rather than sell things?

Hi,

The rates are for withdrawals from the system- ---1.55 is a larger number than 1.54, which works in your favor.

i believe he was primarily talking about the 'redeem funds to bank account' feature. so this applies to people who have US$ in account and want to take the money out in C$

Hi,

I just wanted to clarify that the rates apply to withdrawals (purchases off of a credit card are determined by the card company)

A table is below for comparison.

USD Rate Canadian Dollars
BillPoint $100 1.54 $154
C2it $100 1.46 $146
Western Union $100 1.50 $150
PayPal $100 1.55 $155

Thank you for the clarification, Paypaldamon :)

Just out of curiousity, what are the rates for 'deposits' to a paypal account?

Hi khtm,

Users can't (currently) transfer in money to an international PayPal account from an international bank account. Domestic users can add funds from a bank account, but international can't---if that is what I am understanding from your post. Product is looking at this---the rates, I am going to assume, would probably be pretty comparable to the withdrawal rates.

So I can't even transfer money from my Visa? That's too bad. If I want to pay someone $100 from Paypal, I have to wait until someone else pays me $100 first?

Hi,

Yes, you can make payments off of your Visa. The rates that are offered are determined by the credit card company, not PayPal.
