Wow, yesterday the Canadian government acknowledged something it has never before - that Joint Task Force 2 operates in a capacity far beyond domestic counter-terrorism. Apparently the JTF2s are on loan to the U.S.. This one newspaper article sums up pretty much what anyone not directly involved with JTF2 would ever have known about them and even adds to this. The article states they're on par with the American Delta Force and British S.A.S. which confirms that this isn't just a federal SWAT team.

And get this...for those Canadians who remember the Turbot wars with Spain...the JTF2s were supposedly involved in that! Crazy stuff. I wish they weren't so secretive but I suppose it's necessary.

Who'd of ever thought that Canada would maintain a force like that? I have this picture of Dudley Do-right forever burnt into my mind (thanks to my kids and that damn vcr...) when I think of Canadian military or police. :D

They sound pretty badass and Spec Ops is going to be the key to victory here. Hopefully they'll get the action they are chomping at the bit for very soon.

Apparently the U.S. Special Forces train and have been deployed with JTF2s (i.e. in Somalia). I just found an article that describes some pretty shady characters that are in the unit. If these guys ever get to Bin Laden I'd hate to be in his shoes...

<< Trooper Kyle Brown, convicted in the beating death of a Somali prisoner, was always puzzled why American Special Forces were in Canadian uniforms in Somalia. It seems they were secretly training and working with JTF2.

Taylor speculates the reason the Somalia inquiry was suddenly aborted was because the question of Americn Special Forces wearing Canadian uniforms was about to come out, revealing the involvement of JTF2 commandos.
