I have some of their 700 speakers... Sounds pretty good... but I only got them to keep with the thin LCD screen... I am sure the 1000s are even better... but I am muuuuuuchhhh happier with my Klipsch. I would not get these unless you want the look though.

I have a set of the MM 1000s... got them for like $129 a while back when they were on clearance with computers4sure... they're really nice, the planar focus tecnology is trippy... only prob is you gotta aim them perfectly at you to get the full effect... but they're nice, and the sub kicks pretty hard... just my 2¢

Does anyone have any experience dealing with future shop online? I'm reluctant to order from them because I've had such bad experiences in their stores. If anyone has ordered anything from them, I'd appreciate hearing about their experiences...

I ordered my Epson Stylus Color 740 from Futureshop.ca this summer, and it wasn't a great experience. On the site, it never said I was getting a refubished printer, and that's what I got. Never complained though, because I needed something for school. Slow as hell to ship out too. I never got a confirmation email saying they actually recieved the order for 2 or 3 days, and then it took about another week just to ship the damn thing out. They'll never get my business again, that's for sure.

I just ordered a palmIIxe from them (great deal, BTW. $299 CAN shipped with a roots leather case worth $60). I received a confirmation right away, but apparently they take at least two days to authorize the credit card and send it to shipping. At that point they send another email. So hang in there and hopefully they will confirm soon...

There was a website floating around

www.futureshopsucks.com

or something like that. It was promptly threatened and shut down by FutureShop legal lackeys. Too bad, FutureShop deserves what rep they've earned. I hate shopping there. You feel so slimed on when walking through the isles.

If the salespersons see you carrying something and ready to purchase they will almost bodytackle you to go to their terminal to be rung in for the commission.

However, I have to say that this particular aspect of FutureShop isn't as bad as it used to be ... but you still have salespeople who have no idea on what's going on. Just there to sell ...

This is because of the pay structure of Future Shop. They pay minimum wage or commission, whichever is higher. If you were paid the required wages for more than 2 or 3 days in a row even in a dead time like monday to wednesdays, you were told you were "unnecessary overhead" and told to sharpen up or get out. Some people who were dating the cashiers had the cashier ring in the purchase under their number... both were promptly fired. Fair? Unfair? Whatever!

Don't forget that with every purchase, they will get hassle you to get their extended warranty for EVERYTHING. My visa card gives me an extra year's warranty with everything but they charge you $19.95 for some crappy piece of paper from GE Capital that they won't honour half the time.

Go to Future Shop and buy ONLY after doing your homework AND only if you know exactly what you are looking for. Don't let their people talk you into anything... I know, I used to work there. I'd say their working environment varied from really good to extra crappy depending on the traffic.

Oh yeah, letting their A+ certified "techs" play with your computer is like going to a dentist for a nosejob... it may or may not work...

haha sooo true ,Temujin. The Futureshop Stores blow monkey chunks. they asked me if i wanted a 29.99$ extended warrenty on this crappy audio card that was 19.99$. Plus the sales people there know absolutly nothing about anything in that store.

Thats why im trying there online store, so that i dont have to go in to the Asscrack store :)

Yes, exactly. Their online prices are decent so I'm giving them a try, but no amount of savings would be worth it to have to physically go into one of their stores. I think we can all agree that they are the slimiest of all slimy electronics dealers...

I would only buy brand name, packaged, sealed, products from them. Absolutely nothing else. I ordered a palm from them and if it doesn't arrive in a factory sealed, retail 3com box it is going right back. And yes, never ever even think about buying their "extended protection". What a friggin joke...

Uhhh... no. International Stereo and Visions are just as bad if not worse... They all want you to buy everything on their card with their "No money down, no interest" thing for x months... where they screw you with 28.8% interest BACKDATED to the date of purchase if you don't pay off the balance. They always have these "$25/month" banners all over their flyers. Of course, people are too stupid to ask the interest rate. They just look at that "$25/month" for a $3000 36" Sony Wega and fall for that scam... you'll be paying $25/month for the next century. :(:disgust::frown:

I placed my order on a Wednesday and it looks like they shipped it out on Monday afternoon. I will probably get it Wed-Friday. So I would say that in general it takes at least a week to receive an order, and I live in Toronto which is where they are shipping from, I believe...

EDIT: The palm just arrived today (Wed), exactly one week after ordering. They did a good job in packaging and shipping, everything looks good...

I got these about a year ago when they just came out. You really have to focus these speakers in the right spot to get the full effect like iotone says. The sub was great, surround sound was awesome, but this thing just can't handle higher volumes very well. I guess its because of the way the speakers were designed. They kinda rattle and get distorted when you turn up the volume. I ended up returning these speakers and went with Altec Lansing's 880's. The 880s surround sound are below par of the Monsoons, but they can outpower the Monsoons. Just my 2 cents of what I thought of these speakers for those who might want to hear this before buying.
