Sometimes people cling to hope when there is none. If the kid is dead, let him die. As horrible as that sounds, but life has to move forward.

If the kid is brain dead, who knows how long his heart could go on. How long are they supposed to keep him on a machine, 10, 15,,, even 20 years?

The kid is DEAD, regardless of his beating heart.

As long as this heart is getting Oxygen (respiratory machine), and nutrients (IV line) it will keep on pumping. His liver will keep on making proteins and enzymes, and his kidneys will keep on producing urine. You can separate his head off his body, seal of the vessels, the keep the Oxygen passing into a tube down his trachea, and he will still have a functioning heart, liver, and kidneys -even though his head is separated.

He's dead. They aren't "saving his life" in the US. They are prolonging the vitality of his organs, that's all.

The respect is mutual but i think you got me wrong, i'm as much of a social liberal as you and just about as much of a fiscal conservative to use US terms for political affiliation.

You just got it wrong over there, over here you HAVE TO take a job, ANY job while on welfare and you are required to present jobs you have applied for.

That being done, i am ok with welfare, so i think we are basically on the same page on that one, when it comes to healthcare, you STILL pay more tay payer money for it per capita than us and that is for eveyone who cannot pay and get their entire lives destroyed because of an accident with medical bills they can never pay in full.

What i am not and never will be is a supporter of the US conservatives or the UK Labour party. You can probably guess why.

Cheers werepossum, even if i disagree at times, i always value your standpoint and you are one of the few people that i can honestly say i respect on this forum.
That actually sounds much like my own opinions.

And I do respect you - but since I respect quite a few people on this forum my respect isn't worth as much! LOL

Shit, they had better be getting a private individual who otherwise would not donate to pay for that BS, as if we need to be importing financial sinkholes. I am going to look on the bright side for once and believe they offered to transfer the kid so they could immediately pull the plug on him to save the finances of an ally that seems reluctant to save themselves.

If a significant, regular donor called up and said 'this story has really touched me, please help', but offered no new money, what would you do?

Presuming they had never made such a request before.

*******
LHSC had sought Joseph’s parents’ consent to remove his breathing tube, but the parents, Moe Maraachli and Sana Nader, refused and challenged the diagnosis.

The parents used the example of their daughter, Zina, to support their argument. Born with the same condition as Joseph, she returned home after doctors performed a tracheotomy on her. She spent several months at home before returning to hospital to die.

To support our argument see how this worked with our last kid? We want to do that again. It's our right to extend our child's life to make sure he suffers the maximum possible amount before he dies. Blessed be the lord.

WTF? They've been through this whole thing before?

I feel bad for them and they undoubtedly think they're doing the right thing, but fuck.

Absolutely horrendous. I did not realize that their daughter had lived so long.

They should be granted the tracheotomy in exchange for neutering the pair of them. Preferable with an M82A1.

Thank you Jesus for all you have done for this little boy and his family. We will be forever grateful to you. As long as this little boy is able to move is arms, stretch and hold his daddy's finger...there is still life and it should not be taken away from him.
