Metric.... why the hell is American units still used?!

Becuase 30 degrees just shouldn't be Hot.

I guess you wouldn't like Phoenix. It regularly passes 40C in the summer here. Some days it hits 45C.

It's because of your reluctance to change that everybody else stays with imperial measurements.
I hear that, but when do you suppose it's going to happen? And what's going to happen to all these standards, like 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" ratchet drives, and 4'x8' building materials?

The last machine shop I worked for made an 80% switch to metric. Most customers wanted machines built with metric parts. But, here we were machining these "metric" machines using English sized end mills and holders. Most prints were just converted from English to metric, and tapped holes changed to metric equivalent sizes. In other words, it was a JOKE!

I'm tired of having a mix of Metric and English fasteners on my cars. When is this change going to take place?

Not only that but the cost to reeducate and convert between the two is a nightmare.

I remember having a crash course in the mid '70's because we "were" going to change over to Metric then but of course it never happened.
