Can your hands develop a tolerance to a certain skin lotion?

I have dry skin. Judging by the way my hands look, I'd say I'm developing Eczema (sp?).

For years now, I've bought this cheap hand lotion, Suave Skin Therapy Soothing Aloe.

I actually use it on my face as well after I shave. Must be working b/c people always say I look younger than I am. 🙂

But my hands are a different story. I glob the stuff on and all is well. Like 30 minutes later, my hands are bone-dry and itchy again. 🙁

Could I possibly have developed a tolerance somehow? 😕

ps

*waits for the Jerkins/lotion jokes*

How often do you use it? My skin is pretty dry as well (mostly from washing my hands 50x over the course of a day 😛), and it takes many consecutive days of application to get the dryness to improve...

Assuming you don't have a skin surface infection (bacteria) you need something better. Get either Glycomed or Zim's Crack Creme.

I sh*t you not on the name of the last one. 😛

Good questions and advice. 🙂

I'm white, European descent.
Unfortunately, I use the lotion all day, every day, particularly in the winter. At work, I'm in server rooms all day. Low humidity, cold temps, etc. My hands dry out literally in about 30 mins. 🙁

I will investigate those options, M4H.

I have to change brands now and then. The extremely dry air up here during the Winter guarantees I will have cracked, bleeding skin on my hands during colder months.

Tim uses Curel for his face and hands and it works pretty well for him. I have a harder time because I hate greasy lotions and they are what I should probably be using. However, I've had good luck with Vaseline lotion, Jergins, Curel, Eucerin (That's some heavy-duty stuff), and some of the thicker Bath & Body Works stuff.
