Can your computer play back a 24bit MP3?

WTF is the point of a 24bit mp3?

That said, it can play up to 32bit😀

My reciever handles 192/24 for only the two front channels🙁

my SB audigy2 ZS has 24bit DAC capabilities wish certian sampling rates, so I guess my answer would be yes.

Plenty actually.

DAC output is 24/448 and has much higher resolution. Just experimenting with stuff and it looks like most typical PC audio does not work with this.

EDIT: The post process output sounds so much worse when shrunk to 16/44.1 for CD production. Then things just get worse.

That makes sense, but still, mp3s?! If you are going to the trouble of getting 24bit source, why not keep it losslessly?

Streaming and compatability.

The source is so much better than consumer storage anyways even if compressed without the best methods the output is still far better than a CD!

EDIT: Lame is lame software. Hardware is where it's at. 😛

Anyways...

😛

Seriously though, that is waaaaaaaaay too much work

Not too much work at all.

Hardware under strict NDA so no more mention will be made of it.

Come to think of it, this discussion never happened.
