1. Look up, it's mister tax sticky!

2. Is your HOA registered as a non-profit? No? Then no.

i will check it out and see if it is a non-profit organization, if not do you know how it could be made into one?

i looked up on the corporation commision website in my area and it lists the type of corporation as non-profit.....

You can never write off volunteer/donated time under any circumstances, regardless of the tax status of the organization.

Most HOAs are nonprofit organizations, but I've never heard of one being classified by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, for which all or part of your donation of cash and/or property would be deductable. Not all 501(c)(3) organizations are such that the full value of your donation is deductable.

You can check the IRS website for a list of 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and see if your HOA is on it (though I think it's unlikely).

But you should really consult a tax professional on this matter, and I am not one.

I agree with Trygve. It must be a 501(c)(3) which would be a charitable organization, and even then you can't write off the value of your time, only donations and mileage. And the mileage deduction is a pittance.

Your HOA won't qualify.
