I woke up yesterday, turned the light on and found a bunch of pillows on the left side of my bed covered in tons ants. I dont eat in my room but I think they were going after the almond massage oil I have been using.

Anyways, I sprayed around with raid and killed the ants. In the process I am sure the pillows got quite I bit of raid on them. Can I wash the pillows or should I just toss them?

Without getting into the "almond massage oil," the answer is YES, you can wash pillows...however, the full answer is that it depends on the pillow.

There's usually a label with care instructions on the pillow.

Here, I wash both down-filled and fiber-filled pillows, but in my small washing machine, it's a PITA. Unless you have one of the larger front-loaders, it'd be easier to take them to a laundromat and use one of their commercial machines.
When you dry them, throw in 2-3 NEW tennis balls with the pillow. The tennis balls bounce around and help "puff up" the pillow as it dries.

HOWEVER, many pillows are "dry clean only," so pay attention to the tag on your pillow.

Didn't know about the tennis ball thing. Mine always are lumpy after I dry them. I'll try that next time.

They still may be somewhat lumpy after drying, but the tennis balls also help in "stirring" the down so the entire contents gets dried. I've seen several "moldy" pillows over the years because they weren't completely dried.

(this also works great for down-filled jackets and such)

agree with this. pillows are what? $10 apiece?.. just get another one.

If you use $10 pillows...I agree, but I can't stand the "fiber-filled" pillows, so we use down-filled...IIRC, the current ones were $90 each on sale...

$10 is $10. I'd rather spend 0 effort, and 50¢ in detergent and energy to wash the pillows I already had. Or you can substitute modest effort, and save 35¢ off the above, and wash/dry them by hand....

How is this so unusual? Girls like massages duh. And the pillows are my problem, I live alone.

I broke a washing machine washing a couple of my pillows once, so watch out.
