Can you use Walmart/Sam's Club gift cards at Sam's if you aren't a member?

I see people selling Walmart/Sam's Club gift cards for slightly under face value. If I could use them at Sam's even though I'm not a member, that would be perfect for me. I don't have a Sam's membership because I don't buy enough there to justify it. But I'd like to be able to pick up certain items once in a while.

I looked at samsclub.com but I couldn't find it mentioned.

Does anyone know if a gift card lets you buy at Sam's without being a member? Even if they tack on a 5% surcharge, it would still be worth it for me.

If your not a member I don't think they will let you in the store unless you are there to get a membership. I think it is $35.00 for the advantage membership and you can have a family member get a card under your membership. 2 people for $35.00 isn't to bad I guess.

Since they do sell alcoholic beverages, they are "required" to sell such products to anyone (of proper age), whether a member or not.
Most people would probably prefer to avoid pressing the issue, however.

Is this some kind of a special alcohol rule?

Not all Sam's clubs sell alcohol. I have yet to be in a Sam's club in New York State that sells alcohol.

meh, I got in once and they charged me regular price with the gift card. I still think its stupid to pay $30 to buy stuff from them. It would be different if their stuff was a lot cheaper, but its not, and if it is it isn't much less than you could get at another store.

Its less if you buy stuff in bulk, sometimes. price per unit is cheaper.

In NJ, they want to see your membership card at the door and then they swipe it when you at are the register, before they start ringing your stuff up.

:)

edit: their produce and meats are a LOT cheaper than any supermarket and the quality is MUCH better!
