Can you use single-sided memory in dual-channel configuration?

I have two, single-sided sticks of memory that I want to use in a dual-channel config (NF2 mobo) can I do this?

I seem to remember something from years back about single-sided memory not playing well with other single-sided sticks.

As long as they are reasonably well matched, they may work in dual channel config. I bought some generic RAM from outpost.com and the guy that posted about them in Hot Deals said they would work in dual channel. I guess it's sort of the luck of the draw whether they will or won't. I don't have dual channel yet. If I remember, I'll post back when/if I get the opportunity to find out.
.bh.

There's the :sun: !

Thanks, Zepper.

If not dual channel, they'll definitely work in single-channel together, right? It's been a long time since I've used single sided memory.

yes, should work fine, since "single" channel is just like the basic memory configuration we've always been used to.

I use 2 single single-sided DIMMs on my NF2. (2x256) They are the same speed, same manufacturer, but purchased at different times. For 2 years, I've never had any problem running dual channel. And yes, at the LEAST they would run single channel. The only problem I can think of would be if they have different timings. If you set the timings to the worst strip, the other should have no problem.

Oh, first and third slots for dual channel on most NF2 boards i've seen. 🙂

CraigRT and Rike: Thanks very much! I'll be firing it up here in about an hour. Now that winter is here, I can have five boxes F@H w/o roasting to death from the heat.

A nice side benefit is that my PC room and the hallway are heated up nicely. 😀
