Can you use a Guitar Hero microphone as a regular headset mic (xbox)

Hi,

I'm wondering if I can use a guitar hero microphone like this as the microphone for other games instead of a regular headset. I'd want to talk into that and then have the headset volume come in through the TV/speakers.

I'm trying to avoid using a headset (for reasons I'd rather not get into). Would that work?
