Most companies do, but I know the BMW maps are VERY expensive. You could always ask a friend with a G35 if they would go in for a 'group buy'. ;)

thanks guys....ouch. pretty high dollar. I see that the one for the g35, 07 was released in jan of 09. Wonder if they will have a newer on in Jan of 2010? Might be better to wait a few months and get the newest one?

Unless there is major work being done where you drive I would wait at least 2-3 years before updating.

Most yearly updates are so small for most its a waste to get them. But after 3 years or so then it might be enough to get it.

That's rediculous. You can buy a $100 Garmin and get free map updates whenever you want them.

Price-gouging at it's best.

Yeah I really never understood the point of a in dash nav system. Thousand+ bucks for what will soon be an outdated unit you can't really upgrade?

200 bucks for maps.. lol. I mean, if you have a G35 you should be able to afford it, but still.

Really? where did you see the free updates? I know you get 1 free one if your gps came with outdate maps when you bought it, but not after that.

That's odd. I've updated the OS on my built in Nav twice, updated the computer unit from CD to DVD, updated the maps three times, added speed camera placements and notifications, updated the monitor from 4:3 to 16:9 and added iPod integration that uses the existing monitor, controls and steering wheel functions.

But yeah, can't do anything with 'em. :D

adding an intravee to your M3 isn't really a nav upgrade - its more like an audio upgrade since it emulates a cd changer. and the BMW interface for nav still kind of sucks

The latest map update for my Pioneer aftermarket unit cost me $65. Uses Tele Atlas maps, but if they're good enough for Google Maps, they're good enough for me.

I would say it was, because it uses the features of the Nav computer to have a comprehensive piece of software for control of settings and control. I'm running V6 of the Intravee software and that now even updates my onboard clock by syncing it with the Satellite clock for max accuracy! If you only have the MID display, then yes it's mostly an Audio update.

The interface isn't that bad, IMHO, and I've used all kinds of Nav. Also, I have updated my nav to take 5 and 7 digit postcodes, which makes entering addresses very quick.
