Can you transmit your own programs on cable?

Looking at this thread gave me a stupid idea.

Let's say you live in an apartment complex with cable. Can you connect your DVD/VCR/Computer to broadcast over the local cable network?

I doubt it, but I don't know enough about how this works. Bump for a better answer!

Considering they own the feed, highly unlikely.

If you want to get your own cable channel...well, fork over the $$ and you'll have it

It was meant as a prank. It should be possible to transmit from the antenna output on a VCR. Or?

I guess if you could find equipment to broadcast over QAM and it was strong enough you could possibly override a small area's signals from the headend?
