I've always wondered if this was a myth or not. Especially for short hair, is there a way to make the hair go a certain way?

Maybe

I've been able to change the natural wave of my hair so it parts differently now. Just need to blowdry it and fix your hair in the desired position for a long period of time

For 3 or 4 years in middle school/hs I parted my hair down the middle and pushed it back some. Now it naturally parts in the middle. I can just wet it down in the morning and slick it back. By the time it dries it falls to each side with a nice part down the middle. Just takes some time.

Mine will sit, lay down, roll over, but it is not very good at speaking or playing fetch.

Watch this:

FALL OUT, HAIR, FALL OUT!
*hair all over brush, tub, floor and sink*
GOOD HAIR!

See? My hair is trained just fine. :(

Anyway, the answer is yes. It's a bit easier if you're hair is straight as opposed to very curly though.

What happens if you shave it all off with a blade? Could you start re-training it from there on?

I trained my hair to go the opposite direction...

It used to go backwards, so to train it to go fowards i shaved my head 2-3 times going foward only.

Every day in the shower i would only wash my hair with the water running fowards, and then comb my hair fowards..

About a month later, my hair went fowards :)

Same situation here. My hair used to naturally go backwards (and I wore it that way), but ever since i've started wearing it forwards I can't slick it back anymore.

Preferably with a pair which is currently being worn...

Anyhow, there is a muscle in each hair follicle. I used to wonder if you could actually control those muscles, maybe you could comb your hair just by thinking about it. :)

I have typical Chinese-guy hair. So, no. :) (Mine's really bad too...some of my friends can do different stuff with theirs, but mine's always going to stick up, and out)

Hence, the stereotypical spiking occurs.

Bingo. I've parted my hair on the right side for almost as long as I can remember. Now it just falls the right way if I brush it back. Actually, it parts more easily right after I get it cut when its shortest.

I dunno...I used to part it on the left side, but I've been coming it a little more straight back with a tiny, barely noticably part on the left for years now, and it almost always just flops down and parts in the MIDDLE(I've NEVER purposefully parted my hair in the middle) when it's not gelled and combed. :|

My hair naturally goes forward. But now, somehow, one side goes forward, while the other side just goes to the side. So it's kinda weird. And I'm at a loss for what to do. I just use gel for the hair on top, but the sides are shaved, so I dont know what to do there. I kinda figured that if I constantly push it backwards with my hands, that the hair there will eventually go backwards?

I have long, fine, wavy hair. Trust me, it does whatever the heck it wants, but most of the time it does a pretty good job of it :)
