Can you tell what a PSP's firmware is just by looking at the box?

I'm thinking of buying a PSP in the next few days just for kicks, but before I go out and do so i've been wondering -- is there a way to tell what firmware's on the PSP just by looking at the box? I know v1.5 is the "magic" firmware, but i'm guessing that's probably hard to come by these days...

i know this is old but i will reply to it anyways. on the barcode part of the box you will see the number 120v. under there is a letter, A means that it is a 1.5

if you update the firmware to 1.51 or 1.52, you can't do homebrew, hacks, emulators, etc.

at least, yet
