when someone gives you a phone number and you decide to text them are you able to tell after doing so whether that number even has texting so you can tell if theyare going to see your text

reminds me of a guy who swore up and down he could tell when people read the texts he sent them. i told him, no, you cant. he was all like "dude, look. the little envelope thing is closed, that means its sent. when it opens it means they read the text" he would get all pissed off when his friends would "read the texts but not respond"
i just said "ok" and walked away.
With the new Facebook messenger, you can see when they read the text, which is kind of annoying/scary(for Facebook messages only, obviously)
who would want that? so you know when the girl you like doesnt like you immediately, instead of waiting a few days to figure it out?![]()

Having to stalk her down on Facebook after she gives you a fake telephone number is a good sign she isn't interested anyway
On Verizon you can see that they received the text (not necessarily that they read it, though). Usually its called delivery reports under options, or something similar.
