Can you tell from this pic what is wrong with my setup?

This just started recently. There's a vertical strip a little way in from the left side that has a shadow - you can see it immediately to the left of the first character in each line of text in the photo.

Any ideas what this could be? It's an LCD projector driven by a PC. Nothing has changed with the hardware.

It's a Hitachi CP-X985 projector driven by a PC via a VGA cable. The projector is about 9 years old.

The shadow isn't there when you first turn on the projector but appears after about 10 minutes. The filter gets cleaned regularly and the fan seems to be running fine.

vga cable? Hmm, try a different input if you got one or a new cable.

Maybe unplug it and blow out the connectors for dust and try replugging it back in.
