Can you take passport picture with an digital camera (nikon 4500)?

Where usally do you go to get your passport picture? Also can you do it by yourself with an digital camera and print it in some place like kinko et...? Thanks
 

you have to bring 2 identical pictures that are a certain size (dimensions are on the official fderal government website...don't remember it, but google is your friend)...

you can also pay $10 when you apply and they will take the picture for you...
 
just pay the $10.. that way you dont have to waste your time taking a certain requirment picture and worrying about screwing it up.
 
I did it with my digital camera, took me about 3 tries and 30min to get it right. I needed 10+ passport photos (needed 4 for a visa to Russia, 2 for a student ID, etc) so it was worth it for me. Pasted 6 of them on a 4x6 sheet and printed them at Walmart for 46cents a sheet.
